The Amtrak Downeaster will begin daily runs from Boston to Freeport in November, 2012. Beginning in November, you will be able to pick up the Amtrak Downeaster at North Station and take it directly to the Freeport Amtrak terminal. The schedule has yet to be set however, at least two runs per day are anticipated. Plan a relaxing, and romantic, getaway by taking the train to Freeport, enjoying shopping, a fine meal, and an enjoyable stay at a New England B&B. Maybe try an outdoor adventure you have been wanting to try through the Outdoor Discovery School at L.L. Bean. Currently offered are kayaking, clay shooting, archery, and fly fish casting. During the winter the Outdoor Dscovery School offers snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Freeport also has a six-screen movie theatre should you want to catch the latest film.
