Bicycling Weather is Here, Freeport, Maine

Freeport has so much to offer in any weather however, the start of warmer weather has people wanting to walk, hike, and bicycle.  The bicycling in and around Freeport has something to offer for everyone.  For those looking for the slow meander with a purpose, the docks at South Freeport are a great destination.  They are just tree miles away ad have the reward of a delicious lobster roll or fried clams at the end of the ride at Harraseeket Lunch and Lobster.  For those looking for more of a challenge, climb the hills heading to Wolfe’s Neck Park and enjoy the view overlooking Casco Bay.  There are numerous trails and places to ride, about five miles from James Place Inn.

Yet another great ride is to Bradbury Mountain State Park, about nine miles from James Place Inn.  Once here you can take one of the mountain bike trails to the summit or park your bike and hike up.  Either way, there is a great rock waiting at the top to take in the sights and lie on and relax before venturing back down.  The top also offers great birding opportunities.

Bring your own bikes with you and we will help you store them.  Bikes are also available for rent here in Freeport for about $18-$20/day.  The bikes can be delivered right here to the inn and then picked up later in the day.  We will help with the routing and the maps, making it all hassle-free for you.  All you have to do is enjoy the ride.

Come experience Freeport in a whole new way – by bicycle!
