Fall in Freeport, Maine

Fall colorIt has been a beautiful fall and there is still some fall to be had here in Freeport, Maine and at James Place Inn.  Colors are starting to come off the trees however, many are retaining their leaves and are showing off their colors.  There are great walks to go on to see really pretty scenery and enjoy the crunch of leaves beneath your feet.  A favorite spot to enjoy fall, or any season really, is Pettengill Farm.  Owned by Freeport Historical Society, it is a beautiful and unique saltwater farm that covers 140 acres.  Sitting about two minutes from downtown Freeport, it is a great place to unwind and leave the shopping behind.  There are many trails to try, several leading down to the Harraseeket River and water’s edge.  This is a great place to have bring a picnic, sit and enjoy the quiet, take a hike, simply recharge your battery.  I visited there last weekend and the foliage was just starting there, set along the river and looking quite lovely.  It is not too late to get in on the fall color and enjoy a nice walk this fall.
