Celebrating 10 great years in business as of September 12, 2016! We are delighted to share the news that we have enjoyed ten years as Innkeepers of James Place Inn and we are looking forward to many more.
Both Robin and I having come out of the corporate work world, we were looking for a change when we started this venture. What a great adventure it has been! We saw the inn on a Friday morning, purchased it Monday (three days later) and we have never looked back. Many would think we are crazy. I often saw “we have managed to succeed despite ourselves.” While we both have a sales and service background, we did not have a hospitality background, other than all of the travel we had done ourselves for both business and pleasure. We knew the sort of things we wanted when we arrived to a hotel (yes, we stayed at many for our business travels) and we stayed at B&Bs when we traveled for leisure. Our goal was to bring the best of both worlds to James Place Inn. According to our guests over the past ten years, we have succeeded in combining the comforts and amenities of home but you don’t have to do any of the work (once the reservation is made, that is).
We continuously work to stay in tune with what our guests want. This includes changes in diet (gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, dairy-free, etc.), amenities in the room, concierge services…listening to what our guests want. What we find most often is that a B&B attracts guests who want a more intimate experience yet one where their privacy and space is respected. We work hard to balance that. Our guests tell us that our food and service really set us apart, as well as our hospitality.
We thank all of our guests for ten great years. We have enjoyed meeting everyone who has walked through our door. Our “regulars” are always a special treat to see. We thank each of you and we look forward to meeting many more new faces in the years to come. Thank you for making us Trip Advisor’s #1 Bed and Breakfast in Freeport for over 5 consecutive years!
