Lighthouses and Schooners. What could be better? Schooner Alert sails from the beautiful Bailey Island, about 35 minutes from Freeport. The views of the Maine Coast are incredible and the owners/operators offer Maine hospitality. Perry and Bethany are your hosts as you enjoy a two-hour sail aboard their beautifully rebuilt schooner. Both are incredible sailors, having sailed the world before settling back into their native Maine to raise their family. Enjoy the views of the last Crib Stone Bridge in the country, recently restored to its original splendor. This truly is one of my favorite sailing experiences in the area. Return to Freeport for a fine meal at award-winning Azure Café and your stay at James Place Inn, including your gourmet breakfast each morning.
Looking to view Lighthouses during your Maine vacation? Check out our Lighthouse & Lobster Package. While we have many lighthouses in the area (there are three in Portland), it can take some drive time to get to them. The journey however, is half the fun. We will supply you with a wonderful lighthouse map, full of pictures and the history of the lighthouses. We will gladly make suggestions and recommendations for your route and send you on your way. Return to James Place Inn to enjoy your beautiful room, snacks waiting for you, and a fine lobster dinner at Azure Café. We will also let you know where the best lobster rolls can be found as you are exploring lighthouses and the area. I have sampled many over our ten years in Maine!
