Spring Remodeling Projects at James Place Inn Bed and Breakfast

We have been busy remodeling here at James Place Inn Bed and Breakfast.  Our guests are often curious to know what we are up to in these quieter winter months.  While our weekends are busy, our mid-weeks tend to be quiet and enable us to spruce things up and get ready to see all  of you once the snow is gone and we are all ready to enjoy summer.

Our inn was built in 1890.  With that comes all of the charms and challenges of a period home.  One of the challenge has been the bathroom in the Blue Room.  The shower was

built into the eves and one had to “tilt their head” while showering.  We always tried to point this out to our guests, especially the tall ones!  Most did not mind.  For the few who found it uncomfortable, we have come up with the solution and the bathroom is now completely remodeled.Blue Room Shower1

It proved a bit of a challenge since no changes can be made to the exterior of the house.  We removed a closet in the bathroom, took the room down to the studs and installed a free-standing claw foot tub.  A new sink, fresh wainscoting all around, fresh paint and the room looks fabulous!  (I can say this as Robin did all of the work – and he did a great job)!  The bathroom is open and airy, one of the largest in the house, and no more crouching to shower.Blue Room Bath

More remodeling projects are in the works, so stay tuned.  Next up; the bathroom in the Pine Room.
