Attention Birders: Annual Feathers Over Freeport Weekend April 27-28

This year Freeport’s Annual Feathers Over Freeport Weekend returns April 27-28 with activities bird enthusiasts both young and old alike will enjoy. This birding weekend is a joint project of the Maine state parks and Freeport Wild Bird Supply. Day 1 (April 27) will take place at Bradbury Mountain State Park in Pownal (just a 15 minute drive from the James Place Inn) and Day 2 (April 28) will be right in our backyard at Wolfe’s Neck Woods State Park here in Freeport. Freeport’s #1 Rated Bed & Breakfast, the James Place Inn, is the perfect place to stay for your birding weekend here in Maine!

8-10 am – Bird Walk – meet at the picnic shelter.

9 am – 5 pm – Hawk Watch at summit sponsored by Freeport Wild Bird Supply and Nikon Sport Optics.

9 am – 4 pm – Educational Displays and give-aways about birds, binoculars, bird-friendly coffee, the Maine Wildlife Park, Swan Island, and Maine Parks. Display Presenters: US Fish and Wildlife Service, Maine Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, Nikon Sport Optics, Birds & Beans coffee, Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands. Located at the picnic shelter.

10 – 11:30 am – Bird Walk for Beginners – meet at the picnic shelter.

10 am – 3 pm – Birding Fun & Games – children’s crafts & activities. Sponsored by L.L.Bean. Located near the picnic shelter and playground.

10:30 – 11:30 am – Birding Walk for Children – Meet at the picnic shelter.

10:30 am – 12 noon – Introduction to Hawk Watching- Meet at the summit of Bradbury Mt.

1 – 2:30 pm – Hawk Identification Workshop – Meet at the summit of Bradbury Mt.

3-4 pm – Live Birds program – 
Birds of Prey Including an Eagle
