Maine Lighthouse Tours

Buildings Lighthouse Portland Head Light Cape Elizabeth Maine - Free ...Lighthouses are a Maine attraction.  For many of our guests, these whimsical and romantic pieces of history are the highlight of their vacation time here in New England.  We are often asked which lighthouses to visit and to help plan an itinerary to see as many as possible.

We are fortunate enough to have many lighthouses in our area, making for easy day-tripping from Freeport and James Place Inn Bed and Breakfast.  A number are to the south of us, including Portland Head Lighthouse and its museum.  This is a great place to visit if you are arriving into the area early and would like to see some attractions before coming to Freeport.  The museum is cozy, not overwhelming.  A perfect place to while away an hour or two.  Nearby is Two Lights Lighthouse, conveniently located by a great lobster shack should you find yourself in need of a late lunch or a bit of a snack.

Head a bit further south from here and you will find Nubble Lighthouse in York.  This is likely the most photographed lighthouse on the east coast.  This lighthouse sits majestically along the York beaches, a beacon of a bygone era.

Head north to Pemaquid Point Lighthouse, one of many available for viewing in northern Maine.  The history of these lighthouses will captivate you and be a highlight to your Maine vacation experience.Pemaquid Lighthouse and Cliffs, Maine, USA - Free Wallpapers - #419Cyberlights Lighthouses - Cape Elizabeth (Two Lights) LighthousePortland Head Lighthouse | Flickr - Photo Sharing!
